Success for Kazoku-Kan at Midlands Area Championships

THERE were medals galore for Kazoku-Kan Judo Club at the Midlands Area Closed Championships on Sunday.

First up to fight was Jordan Phillips who put up a great contest to claim gold and claim the title of Midland Area champion before taking first place in the open category.

Next up was James Worsfold who despite not competing for almost a year, showed great determination to secure a silver medal.

Felicity Warburton took to the mat to face off against a higher grade, and though she put up a great effort she walked away with the silver medal.

Joshua Warburton fought an opponent with much more competition experience but following a great tussle he went on to grab gold.

In her first competition since July last year, Molly Charlwood came away with two silver medals while Eleanor Warburton completed proceedings with a gold medal.

Senior instructor Rich Morrish said: “To see these kids in action and take their hearts and souls onto the mat, showing respect to their opponents and giving it their all is amazing.

“They all understand that it’s the taking part that counts and not the medals or winning that matters.

“They train hard every week and they are starting to see the results unfold for themselves which is priceless.

“We are very proud of them all.”
