Positive showing from Spa Under 12's in latest installment of the Worcestershire Tournament

DROITWICH SPA Hockey Club’s under 12’s side featured in the latest installment of the Worcestershire Tournament on Sunday.

Taking part in four matches against Stourport, Bournville, Harborne, and Worcester at the weekend, Spa had mixed fortunes as they claimed a win, two draws and a loss.

Their first match against Stourport resulted in a narrow 1-0 victory, after striking from a well-worked move from the left to the right of the pitch, the winning goal being fired home across the keeper.

A skilful Bournville side presented a tough proposition for Spa to navigate, but they claimed a 0-0 draw to stay unbeaten in the tournament.

The under 12’s side had to dig in deep and were brave in their tackling, eventually grinding out a point.

However, missed opportunities proved costly when they went down 1-0 to Harborne.

Worcester were the opponents in the final match to round-off proceedings, a team that proved tough competitors.

Spa held firm though despite Worcester pressure and went ahead through an excellent team goal.

But they were eventually pegged back when conceding at the far-post to draw the game 1-1.

It capped off another fantastic showing from the budding side, made even more impressive considering they played without a keeper in their four matches.
