LUKE PHILLIPS claimed a gold medal at the Samurai Orange and Under competition in Kidderminster for Kazoku-Kan Judo Club.
The ten-year-old showed great determination and fighting to an incredible standard to earn the top spot in the under-38kg category for the Droitwich Spa-based club.
Phillips’ success came after Kazoku-Kan had taken Molly Charlwood, Eleanor Warburton and Robert Alloway to the 22nd Houvast competition in Holland.
Charlwood finished seventh in the over-55kg category while Warbuton secured ninth in the over-65kg category.
Alloway then managed to secure seventh in the combined under-70kg and under-66kg category.
Alloway was also involved in the High Wycombe Masters tournament last Saturday where he walked away with a silver medal.
His success followed a fifth place finish in the British Judo London Open the week before.
Instructor Rich Morrish said: “Watching these kids progress and succeed in a sport that commands respect from its competitors is such a joy.
“We are so proud of how far they have all come in such a short space of time.”
