KAZOKU-KAN Judo Club in Droitwich had a special visitor recently from a member of the Great Britain London 2012 Paralympics team.

Adaptive athlete Marc Powell, who participated in the visually impaired category at the Games, held a class at the judo club on February 22.

Powell, who now works as a keynote speaker, took part alongside Judo legend Stan Cantrill, head coach Rich Morrish, trainee instructor Andrew Wright and new instructors Eleanor Warburton and Felicity Warburton, in what proved a high energy session.

The Paralympian demonstrated various new techniques, including a number of holds and throws that can be used in combat.

Head coach Morrish was left delighted by Powell’s involvement, and stated that it is shaping up to be a big year ahead for the club.

“This is the start of an exciting pathway for the Club going forward and we have other special guests and events in the pipeline heading further into 2019.”

Sessions at the club take place every Friday between 6:30pm and 8:30pm at Physique Fitness on the Berry Hill Industral estate, with the first session always being free for new members.
