FOUR GOALS from Lucy Hine guided Droitwich Spa Ladies to a 5-0 victory in the Worcestershire League Division Two opener against Kidderminster.
Spa scored with their very first attempt on goal as Sam Wakelam found the corner with a strike from a penalty corner after just six minutes.
Kidderminster kept the ball better than Spa, allowing them to find their fowards, but that elusive pass evading them meaning they failed to create chances.
When they did get the opportunity to score from a penalty corner in the 11th minute, they did not trouble Kaylie Thomas in the Spa goal.
Spa then took advantage as Hine scored the first of her quadruple. She then missed from close range, abbie Latham hit the post with a reverse shot before Hariet Grant saw her effort smothered by the Kidderminster keeper.
After the interval, Spa’s dominance continued as Hine once went close in the opening seconds but she miss-hit her shot.
However, she made amends after 44 minutes when she coolly slotted home in the opposite corner, wrong-footing the Kidderminster keeper.
Hine then completed her hat-trick four minutes later. With a four-goal cushion now behind them, Spa began to use their flanks with increasing confidence as Grant was flying down the right before crossing to Latham at the back stick but she was unable to apply the finishing touch.
Hine added spa’s fifth towards the end of the game to wrap up the 5-0 win.
Spa entertain Kings Heath Pickwick Ladies on Saturday.
