DROITWICH Spa romped to a remarkable 8-1 win against Allscott Heath to set up a title showdown with Gornal Athletic on Wednesday (May 4).
The Saltmen eased to victory against the league’s basement club as James Lemon scored a hat-trick and Haydn Morris netted a brace with further goals from Perry Moss, Connor Baker and Luke Molloy at Walshes Meadow.
Spa remain second in the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One table, one point behind leaders Gornal ahead of a title showdown tomorrow night.
The home side took an early lead when Lemon headed in with three minutes on the clock before the same player added his second of the game soon after.
And Spa trebled their lead when Morris collected a poor clearance from visiting goalkeeper Jack Richards before producing a delightful chip that found the top corner from 20-yards out.
Droitwich extended their advantage when Moss and Baker netted in quick succession to send Spa into the break with a five-goal lead.
And Lemon completed his hat-trick at the beginning of the second period to grab his 16th goal of the season before the visitors pulled a goal back after keeper Matt Oliver could only parry a driven effort.
However, Molloy restored Spa’s six-goal lead when he scored from the penalty spot after Cal Green was pushed over in the box.
And the scoring was complete when Morris capitalised on another poor clearance before twisting and turning and firing an effort past Richards to secure a 10th straight league win for the Saltmen.
Droitwich are next in action at home to Gornal on Wednesday, May 4 with kick-off at 7.45pm at Walshes Meadow.
