FOOTBALL - Crowther expects "tough" game against Redditch Borough

DROITWICH Spa boss Andy Crowther is anticipating a “tough” game when his side take on local rivals Redditch Borough in the WFA Saturday Cup this weekend.

The Saltmen were without a game last week – having secured an impressive 5-1 win against Bustleholme in their last outing a fortnight ago.

James Lemon and Luke Molloy both found the net twice after Haydn Morris had opened the scoring for Crowther’s side at Walshes Meadow.

Droitwich received a walkover in the previous round after their opponents Tenbury United were unable to fulfil the fixture.

And Crowther acknowledged that anything can happen in the cup as his side prepare to face Midland Football League Division Two side Redditch Borough.

Crowther said: “We’re expecting a tough game – it’s a local derby – anything can happen in cup games.

“We’ve had a week without a game but we should be prepared enough to hopefully get a result.

“Our performance against Bustleholme was our best performance of the season – the football we played was excellent.

“James [Lemon] is very important – he’s always got the energy to keep working for the 90 minutes.

“To get on the scoresheet as well after the injury he had will help his confidence.”

Droitwich’s game against Redditch takes place on Saturday, November 27 with kick-off at 2pm at Mettis Sports and Social Club.
