PARALYMPIC silver medallist Rebecca Redfern has been selected as part of a 26-strong squad for the World Para Swimming Championships in Mexico later this year.
The 17-year-old from Droitwich Spa will fly out to Mexico City for the event which takes place from Saturday, September 30 to Friday, October 6.
Joining the Worcester Swimming Club ace for the championships include fellow Paralympic champions Ollie Hynd, Bethany Firth, Ellie Robinson and Matt Wylie.
Eight athletes will also be making their senior international debuts at the major competition.
All swimmers were selected after impressing at the British Summer Championships in Sheffield.
Head coach Rob Aubry said: “In Sheffield, we saw athletes break records and show that they were at their best at the right time.
“Sheffield has shown us that we have a strong developing group of athletes challenging for top positions within the program.
“In Mexico we will have a tough challenge and we know there will be some new athletes that our athletes will face.
“It will be testing environment and athletes will be expected to race consistently while continuing training at a key point in the season.”
