Droitwich Dolphins juniors come second in Nuneaton League opener

THERE was delight for Droitwich Dolphins’ junior section after they came second in the first round of the Nuneaton League held in Tamworth.

With seven wins, 17 seconds and 12 thirds from 51 events it was a strong team performance from the Dolphins youngsters.

The wins went to Phoebe Martin (9yrs 25m backstroke), Abbie Haldane (10yrs 50m freestyle), Alice Davison (11yrs 50m butterfly), Lilia Barley (12yrs 50m backstroke), Claude Rodriguez (12yrs 50m breaststroke) and the boys 9yrs team of Oliver Gould, Sam Grech, Drew Hankins and James Lewis who won both their medley and freestyle 4x25m relays.

Meanwhile, the seniors competed in the third round of the Worcester Winter League held in Droitwich.




The gala was very competitive and even though the Dolphins managed six victories, nine seconds and 11 third-placed finishes from 40 events, they could only manage a forth-placed finish.

The individual victories went to Ruth Hadley (open 100m backstroke and breaststroke) and Patrick Florendo (13/u 100m backstroke).


Hadley was then joined by Rebecca Hadley, Elize Smith, James Clews, Oliver Retter and Sam Rowberry to win both open 6x25m medley and freestyle relays while Florendo joined Harry Grech, Will Hughes, Zara Povey, Lily Smith and Martha Stead to win the 13/u 6x25m medley relay.
