SUCCESS was sweet for RGS Dodderhill Independent Girls School after a third-place finish in their maiden hockey tournament on the national stage last Thursday.
The under-15s team headed for Lee Valley Hockey Centre inside Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to compete in the ISA National U15 Girls Plate.
An opening defeat to Claires Court School failed to dim the students’ spirits.
A draw in the next fixture against Finborough School proved a turning point, before dispatching Radnor House and St Mary’s to seal their place in the last-four.
Though a 2-0 defeat to Radnor House A in the semi-finals ended their hopes of success, a 1-0 triumph over Radnor’s B team in the third-place play-off ensured the girls came home with bronze medals.
