DROITWICH Cycling Club’s Tuesday night Time Trial attracted a field of 17, including two female pros and riders from clubs across the West Midlands.

Racing over nearly 10 miles, riders headed south on the A422 Kidderminster road, before turning at the Big Bear roundabout to head back up to a final turn and sprint on Ryeland’s Lane.

Riders averaged up to 28mph with a tough headwind on the home leg.

Charles Walker (Wattshop) took the win in a time of 20 minutes 31 seconds with Silas Vanden Branden (UoB CC) second in 21 mins 38 secs whilst Leah Dixon (Bianchi Hunt Morvelo) was the fastest woman and third outright in 22 mins 07 secs.

Rikky Hughes was the first of seven Droitwich riders home in 22 mins 23 secs beating Luke Allen by just two seconds for club bragging rights.

Marcus Bufton (Droitwich CC) was the quickest rider on a standard road bike, fresh from racing in a criterium at Castle Combe on Good Friday.

And four DCC riders are in action again at the weekend, taking on the famous Little Mountain TT against more than 60 riders as they tackle a 39.5 mile course which includes the fearsome Ankerdine hill climb.
