DROITWICH Spa Cricket Club’s perfect start to the Worcestershire Indoor League was ended after coming up against a devastating Cutnall Green side, who ended their three-match winning run.

The experience in the ranks of the Green’s was evident, as they put on a batting masterclass to blow away Spa and build an unassailable lead.

Placing hits all across the field and making strong runs between the wickets, Cutnall Green amassed a total of 156-3, with Ted Bayliss leading the run chase with a haul of 47.

Paul Hutchins (32) and Neil Evans (27) also totalled impressive numbers at the bat, whilst Martyn Davies was the most economical bowler for Spa, conceding 27 runs from the three overs bowled.

14 runs from the first over set up Droitwich with a platform to build on, but it would all go downhill for them from there.

Opening batsmen Davies and vice-captain Max Young both fell in the second over, which started Spa’s downfall.

Matt Gurr’s run chase of 38 was impressive, but he fell in the final over, as Spa were bowled out for 99.

Stuart Bryan took 20 runs whilst Jez Hanson totalled 15, but the Green’s total proved a step too far for them.

Evans took a wicket and conceded 21 runs from his two overs, whilst Matt Harris displayed some accomplished fielding with two catches for Cutnall Green – who put themselves in the driving seat for the league title.
