DROITWICH Spa CC could only manage a losing draw against relegation-threatened Old Elizabethans in the Worcestershire County League Premier Division.

Droitwich were unable to make any early inroads in the Old Elizabethans innings as the visitors put on 80 runs for the first wicket.

However, Martyn Davies (3-53) finally removed opener Tom Goodwin (41) before later claiming the wicket of Elliott Bartlett (58).

And Sebastian Wilkins (37) made a useful contribution before he was trapped lbw by Max Young (3-42) as he departed with the visitors on 152-5.

Old Elizabethans continued to frustrate the Droitwich bowlers however as Taylor Pugh (46 not out), Alex Wheeler (20) and Alex Bastable (13 not out) helped the away side close on 238-7.

Droitwich made a sluggish start to the run chase as Kaz Singh (6), Matthew Gurr (19) and Davies (8) were all removed to leave the hosts on 76-3.

Jake Young (52) and Max Young (41) combined well to take Droitwich to 127-4 before Callam Turner (34) continued Spa’s momentum.

However, with overs running low, a knock of 26 by Ajay Kumar was not enough to take Droitwich close to Old Elizabethans total as they finished on 205-8 following the loss of two late wickets.

Spa’s 2nd XI suffered a six-wicket defeat against Barnt Green, losing in the final over, whilst the 3rd XI were 18 runs short in their defeat against Cookhill.

The 4th XI claimed a three-wicket win at Enville whilst the 5th XI went down by 101 runs against Worcester.
