Your guide to making a lantern for Friday's parade in Droitwich

THE Christmas Lantern Parade in Droitwich’s Lido Park is now just days away and we have – from the organiser – the perfect guide for you to make your own lantern and be part of the event.

Lanterns in the Park, organised by the Droitwich Arts Network, will be held at 6.30pm in the Lido Park this Friday (December 12) and follows on from a similar event last year which was a great success.

The Droitwich Community Choir and the town’s Salvation Army band will perform at the bandstand, providing seasonal songs and there will also be refreshments, food stalls and an appearance by the man in the big red suit.

Local schools have been making lanterns and it is hoped the whole community will get involved and help make it an annual event.

Estate agents Nicol & Co has backed the parade by donating £500.

Marshalls are also currently being sought to ensure the parade goes as smoothly as possible.

For more on the event, or to find out about volunteering, call Peter Hawkins on 07766 415094.
