A YOUNG volunteer from Droitwich’s Gaudet Luce Golf Club has been recognised for her work in the sport by being handed a prestigious award.
Emily Furniss was given the Montgomerie Young Volunteer accolade, one of nine presented by the Golf Foundation to a young volunteer who has helped inspire others to get into golf.
The purpose of the Golf Foundation is to make playing and personal benefits of golf available to any young person.
A Gaudet Luce spokesperson said: “2017 was a particularly amazing year for Emily when her captaincy for both club and county gave her the opportunity to showcase her tremendous ability to communicate her passion for golf to all age groups, not just to junior members but also to members across all sections of the club.
“And now, as an England Golf Young Ambassador, PGA Level One coach, junior committee member, ladies section committee member, she is showing how her own experiences have shaped her passion to give something back to this wonderful game which is open to all.
“She makes participating in golf a fun experience for all those around her.
“She is a true inspiration and a real ambassador for her sport.
“We at Gaudet Luce are extremely proud and consider ourselves fortunate she has chosen to remain a loyal member at our club.
“It has been our great privilege to have watched her develop into this lovely, mature, and public spirited young lady.”
