Wychavon to take legal action against Droitwich travellers

Droitwich Editorial 29th Sep, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

OFFICERS at Wychavon District Council are going to have to take legal action against the travellers which have now been on land off Ombersley Way since Wednesday (September 24).

The Standard reported last week about the illegal encampment setting up on St George’s Field and that a notice was served to the group on Thursday morning (Thursday), instructing the travellers to leave the site by 4pm on Friday.

But now the weekend has come and gone and the travellers are still there, meaning officers will be forced to go to the County Court to get an order to remove them from the site.

A West Mercia Police spokesperson confirmed officers attended with Wychavon representatives when the notice was served and added they were monitoriting the situation.
