Wychavon launches COVID-19 emergency fund for councillors to use in their wards

Droitwich Editorial 26th Mar, 2020 Updated: 26th Mar, 2020   0

EMERGENCY funding has been made available for good causes in Wychavon to support them in their fight against coronavirus.

Wychavon councillors have been awarded £500 each by the District Council to allocate to charities and local groups in their own or neighbouring ward.

Support groups are likely to struggle for cash over the next few weeks as they respond to the Covid-19 crisis.

The fund – paid directly to each Wychavon councillor today – will ensure a rapid response.

While groups delivering medicines or transporting elderly people to and from hospitals are likely to be prioritised, all groups are eligible for the funding.

Wychavon councillor for Droitwich Spa Central, Coun John Hartley, said: “This funding can only be paid to charities and local groups, not businesses or individuals.

“Therefore, I urge all eligible groups to get in touch to discuss this further.”

Here are a list of Wychavon councillors in Droitwich and their contact details:
