INCREASED funding for social care announced by the Government in the Queen’s Speech has been welcomed by Worcestershire County Council.
Local authorities across the country will receive an extra £1billion for both adults’ and children’s social care every year for the duration of this Parliament.
The Government also announced it would consult on a two-year precept which would generate an extra £500m for local councils for 2020/21.
Councillor Adrian Hardman, Cabinet Member with Responsibility for Adult Social Care, said adult social care had always been one of the authority’s top priorities.
“This latest funding announcement is a great start in finding a long-term solution and ensuring future stability of the service.”
