A WOMAN who stole a £3 jar of coffee has been ordered to pay back more than 30 times the amount.
Kristina Hinton, of Swan Drive in Droitwich, entered the Spar store at 7.15pm on March 29 and paid for a low value item before picking up the £2.95 Nescafe Gold Blend coffee on her way out.
Last Friday (August 1) the 29-year-old pleaded guilty to theft at Worcester Magistrates Court after CCTV in the shop had identified her.
Hinton was fined £35 for the offence and was ordered to pay £40 court costs, a £20 victim surcharge and £2.95 in compensation.
Chair of the bench Keith Stokes-Smith said: “You were cautioned for shop theft on February 10 which should have sent alarm bells to you to stop stealing, but then you went on to steal again.
“You need to really start growing up and start acting like an adult.”
