DROITWICH people, business owners and local schools are being urged to take part in ‘the Big Switch-Off’ which is being led by Eco Warriors from Westacre Middle School.
The event was held for the first time last year and was hailed a great success after a variety of organisations joined in.
The latest Big Switch Off will be between 2pm and 2.30pm next Friday, December 6.
Participants are being urged to turn off lights, computers and other appliances for the half-hour period to save energy and encourage people to think about the impact of their energy use and wastage on the environment.
The event is being supported by Droitwich Youth Council and Witton Middle School.
A school spokesperson said: “Everyone at Westacre was delighted so many in the local community, as well as others across Worcestershire, were able to participate last time and reduce their energy consumption but the pupils feel more must be done.”
Any people, businesses or organisations wanting to be involved should contact Westacre Middle School via its Twitter page – @WestacreMiddle
