Droitwich Editorial 9th Sep, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

A WARNING has gone out to sat nav owners after three of the devices were stolen from three vehicles in a matter of hours while they were parked in Droitwich..

In the first, between 10pm on August 31 and 8.30am on September 1, a sat nav worth £100 and a £60 pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses were taken from a Volkswagen Golf which was broken into in Penrice Road.

Thieves also gained access to an unlocked BMW 320 while it was parked in Pelham Road from 7pm on August 31 to 9.45am on September 1. They then took a £100 Tom Tom sat nav.

And between 7pm on August 31 and 9.30am on September 1 in Orchard Rise, a Citroen Dispatch van was broken into, although police officers do not know what kid of tool was used to gain access.

And, as well as the £180 Garmin sat nav, a key – not to the victim’s address – was also taken.

Despite the similarity of the crimes, officers from West Mercia Police have said they are not linking the incidents.

Drivers with sat navs are advised to take their devices with them when they leave their vehicles and not to leave them in their cars, even if it is a glove compartment or boot.

It is also suggested the suction pad marks are removed from windscreens as this shows opportunist thieves the driver owns a sat nav.

Any witnesses or anyone with any information to any of the above incidents should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
