VE Day 75 - when Droitwich came together, but two metres apart

PEOPLE across Droitwich enjoyed street parties on their front gardens and driveways to mark the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

The Coronavirus lockdown meant public events had to be cancelled or postponed.

But residents did not let that dampen their spirits and, with the sun shining down, they made the most of the good weather.

They decorated their homes in red white and blue, with Union Flags and bunting.

One of the roads where people marked the occasion was Vines Lane.

Natalie Stanley sent us these pictures of their decorated homes.

The Urban Search and Rescue (USAR), based at Droitwich Fire Station had a novel way of paying their respects by putting a Union Flag on their tower (pictured top).

The team posted on Twitter: “Today, and always, we will remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice.”
