Urgent appeal from Droitwich Foodbank as stock levels run low

Droitwich Editorial 8th Jul, 2018   0

STOCKS of many essential items at the Droitwich Foodbank are low and the organisers have launched an appeal for donations, writes Scarlett Brunning.

Supplies such as long-life milk, soup, tinned fruits and tea bags have depleted, as well as washing up liquid, laundry capsules and female deodorant among other items.

The Droitwich Foodbank is a member of the Trussell Trust network of foodbanks and is one of over 2,000 in the country which provides a three day emergency food package and other vital supplies.

It relies on donations from the public and can only continue providing this much-needed service with the support of the public and volunteers.

We reported last month how the Droitwich Foodbank had given out food parcels to 1,630 people last year, up 420 on the year before.

Worryingly 504 of those receiving packages were children, also an increase of around 25 per cent on last year.
