TWO men have been arrested after more than 60 cannabis plants were seized during a series of raids in Droitwich this morning (Wednesday).

Officers obtained warrants under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971 to search three properties on Dovecote Road, Wye Close and Ombersley Road from 9am today.

Up to 60 cannabis plants were found at the house on Dovecote Road, with a small ‘nursery’ of plants found at Wye Close.

With the belief the two properties were connected, police officers arrested the two men at Wye Close for being concerned in the supply and production of cannabis.

They remain in custody.

Another house on Ombersley Road was searched and officers found equipment used for the production of cannabis.

The raids followed intelligence from other police forces that cannabis was being grown in the properties, allegedly as part of a wider crime gang.

PC Tony Carter of Droitwich Town East and Rural East Team, said: “We do as much as we can to tackle drug crime, not only in Droitwich but the surrounding areas.

“This was a ‘county lines’ operation which means we collaborated with other police forces, including Worcester and Evesham, using intelligence and working together to stem the production and supply of drugs.”

The public is being urged to report anything suspicious, for example, if someone’s windows are blocked out or curtains are drawn during the day, to call 101 and speak to the Safer Neighbourhood Team.
