Spa soap star and translator to showcase at business expo

TWO TOP Droitwich businesses have fought off more than 100 competitors and landed themselves prestigious spots at a high profile business expo.

Owners Ruth Ward of Bubblicious Soaps and Hannah Smell of The Very Good Translation Company Ltd were thrilled to be two of the ten finalists selected to have a stall at the Worcestershire Business Expo.

Both companies will now have the chance to showcase their products and services to what is expected to be well over 800 visitors, giving them the perfect opportunity to raise their profile.

As well as this, the winning businesses will also be handed £250 in marketing support courtesy of Worcestershire.Business.Central and its Enterprising Worcestershire programme.

Ruth’s company which makes uniquely life-like smelling soaps and is best known for its battenburg soap that was featured in The Standard last year, is now in its third year.

She said: “I am thrilled and excited and full of ideas, it will be a great opportunity because there will be hundreds of businesses looking for new ideas.”

Ruth said she was planning to present her personalised corporate soaps which could be especially designed to suit individual companies, with things such as logos on them.

She added the idea was so they could be used to give to clients and promote their businesses.

Ruth said she was especially interested to see one guest speaker – the owner of Porsche.

She said it would be interesting to speak to him because of the way he built up the business.

“My own business started as a hobby and now I supply a string of shops, and even go as far as Hawaii.”

Hannah’s company, launched in June 2014, provides companies with translation services in well-known languages such as French and German, along with Arabic and Chinese – which are increasing in popularity.

She said: “It is a great way to start our second year – It will be really great for me because I wanted to do an exhibit at a few other similar events but could not afford it.

“It will give us a chance to get our name out there.”

The Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce event will take place at Malvern’s Three Counties Showground on March 4 from 8am to 3pm.
