Spa residents urged to enjoy fish Fridays

Droitwich Editorial 15th May, 2014 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

DROITWICH residents wanting to have fish on a Friday can now get it fresh after a partnership between a Spa business owner and a fishmonger.

It started when Karen Tomalin, who runs Bras 2U, found out about fishmonger Kevin Gaiger and how he is able to supply fresh fish from Grimsby that has been caught that day.

As well as getting her weekly fish supply from him, Karen offered him a place selling outside her shop, encouraging her customers who buy fish to get it from Kevin.

She said: “When I first heard that someone was delivering fresh fish in Droitwich I had to find out more.

“My family eat a lot of fish and trying to find fresh fish can be a struggle – you can’t get fresher than fish caught the same day you purchase it.”

Droitwich Mayor Tom Noyes, who paid the pair a visit, said: “I think the business partnership Karen and Kevin has formed is an unusual one but it works.

“Kevin arrives in his van from Grimsby every Friday and sells his fish from outside Karen’s shop between 11am and 12midday,

“Everyone that visits Bras 2U during this hour receives a free coffee and cake.

“As one of my last duties as Mayor of Droitwich I would like to wish the partnership between Kevin and Karen great success and hope it encourages other businesses to form similar partnerships.”

Kevin the fishmonger is outside Bras 2U on North Street from 11am to 12midday.
