RGS Dodderhill girls school in Droitwich finished third in their first national hockey tournament last Thursday, writes Hugh Jeavons.

The under 15s took on other teams from around the country at the highly regarded Lee Valley Hockey Centre in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The girls, who played several matches throughout the day, suffered an early setback when they lost to Claires Court School.

But they battled back to draw their next game to Finborough School before swiftly brushing aside Radnor House and St Mary’s.

After losing in their semi-final they played Radnor House again in their third-fourth play-off, winning bronze.
