RESIDENTS are being offered the opportunity to directly influence Wychavon District Council’s work supporting communities, dealing with rural issues and regenerating town centres.

Volunteers are being sought to become ‘co-opted members’ of one of Wychavon’s three advisory panels – Communities and Funding, Rural Matters and Town Centres.

All three panels have a key role in advising the council’s main decision-making Executive Board on various policies.

Coun Bradley Thomas, Leader of Wychavon District Council, said: “This is a great opportunity to directly influence our work and decision-making by working alongside officers offering constructive challenge, support and fresh ideas.”

Issues the panels will focus on range from tourism and town centre master planning to community transport and funding for community projects.

Each panel meets about six times a year and the role would ideally suit someone who can think strategically, has knowledge of the issues involved, a connection with Wychavon and time to commit to attending meetings and activities.

Travel expenses and training will be provided.

The role is open to anyone aged 18 and over who meets all the other criteria listed.

Successful candidates will be appointed from late June 2019 until May 31 2021.

Existing Wychavon district councillors and staff cannot apply and parish or town councillors or staff will only be considered if they can provide additional experience beyond their current role.
