Remembering Mike Hull - More teams needed for charity Walking Football tournament in Droitwich

MORE walking football teams are being sought to take part in this year’s Droitwich Against Melanoma (DAM) Trophy which takes place later this month in memory of proud monner Mike Hull.

The DAM Trophy 22 will be held on April 24 at The St Peter’s Cricket Pitch to raise funds towards buying a mole-mapping machine for Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital so it can be used by people right across the Midlands.

Mike lost his brave nine-year battle with melanoma on March 19 and the mole-mapping machine will be his legacy.

The fund-raising campaign is now up to almost £45,000 meaning just £10,000 is now needed to pay for the machine, its installation and licences.

The walking football tournament will be in the same format as before – teams of five (maximum seven) £10 per player. There will be trophies and medals on the day and all proceeds will be donated to the fund.

The organisers want to make it bigger and better than the first tournament in 2019. Mike had already started planning the event before he passed and it is guaranteed to be a fun-filled day.

Matt Nicol and Jake Watson are organising the event which will also feature a raffle, bouncy castle, tombola, cake stall, barbecue, pony rides and tabletop sales. Some tables are still available.

For more and to enter teams, call Matt Nicol on 01905 799072 or email [email protected]. Teams need to be entered before next Friday, April 15.
