Pupils from Droitwich's Westacre School urge people to join them in the 'Big Switch Off'

Droitwich Editorial 24th Mar, 2019   0

PUPILS from Westacre Middle School in Droitwich have urged other schools, businesses and organisations to join students and staff in turning off all electrical appliances for half-an-hour as part of the Big Switch Off.

The designated time for the event is between 2.15pm and  2.45pm on April 11.

In the video (below) the first pair urge people to look around the classroom behind them in the shot and see how many devices there are which use electricity – including computers, lights, fans and projectors.

They ask their audience if ‘they could do without them’ and say for that 30 minutes students and staff at the school will rely on natural light in their working environment and be thinking about the amount of electricity we all use on a daily basis.

Next, two more pupils, with a backdrop of Droitwich town centre urge businesses and families to join them in taking part.

And two more, with the globe as their backdrop, provide information about the benefits of doing without electricity for that short space of time.
