Plea for volunteers for Droitwich DoubleBeat's 12-hour CPR marathon

Droitwich Editorial 18th May, 2019   0

DROITWICH fund-raising group ‘DoubleBeat’ will be raising awareness for CPR next Saturday, May 25 and want as many people as possible to join them, writes Elliot Ball.

Beat Heartbreak Forever takes place between 8am and 8pm at Anytime Fitness to reflect an NHS nurse’s shift pattern and DoubleBeat is hoping, with the help of the community, to produce a continuous 12-hour run of life-saving on an ‘Annie’ dummy.

Members all have different reasons for being in the group, including cardiac physiologist and lecturer Marie Tolley, Jamie Curtis whose daughter Myla has a heart condition and Sarah Poultney whose grandmother died suddenly from heart failure.

Sarah said: “We are a small group and all really passionate about what we do and making a difference.

“We want to get more people on board, especially the younger generation because heart problems can affect anyone at any age.”

Sarah said knowing CPR could mean one day saving a life.

The organisers are hoping, as well as individuals, local community and sports groups will go down and have a designated hour each to perform the CPR at the event which has been supported by Droitwich AED.

Check out the  ‘Droitwich DoubleBeat’ Facebook page for more information or call Sarah on 07817 941877.
