UPDATE - Pair arrested over murder of boy, 9, in Droitwich are bailed

THE TWO people arrested over the murder of a a nine-year-old boy in Copcut, Droitwich, have been bailed.

The incident happened around 2.30pm on Thursday. The boy, who was in critical condition, was taken to hospital by air ambulance but sadly died.

The cause of the boy’s death is not yet known and police are continuing to treat it as an unexplained death.

A 33-year-old woman was arrested on suspected child neglect and a 39-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. Both have been bailed until the 19 March.




Specially trained officers are supporting the victim’s family at this time and would ask they are given privacy during this tragic event.

Officers yesterday rubbished social media claims that the boy was stabbed during the serious incident which occurred at an address in Vashon Drive yesterday (February 18).


DI Ed Slough of West Mercia Police said: “We are aware of comments in the media and social media relating this to a stabbing. We would like to clear this up by saying no stab wounds were found on the young boy.

“This is a tragic incident that has seen a boy lose his life – our thoughts are with his family and friends at this awful time.

“We are currently treating the boy’s death as unexplained and are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances.”
