DROITWICH Spa Town Council had a change of leadership on Monday when Coun Alex Sinton took over from Coun Tom Noyes.
Coun Noyes said the move was ‘tinged with sadness’ but added he was looking forward to spending time with his partner Patricia.
Thanking his fellow councillors for their support, he said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my time as leader and am thankful for everyone’s co-operation.
“In 2015 my wife died and around the same time Patricia’s husband also died.
“I have dedicated a lot of my life to my work and thought I should I enjoy some time with her and to have fun with someone I care about.”
The move comes as town clerk Pam Craney is set to retire this year.
“This will give Coun Sinton an opportunity to work closely with successor assistant town clerk Mark Keld,” he added.
“Thank you all for your support.”
In response, councillors expressed their gratitude, including Droitwich Spa Mayor Coun Shaun Best.
Coun Sinton said: “It is a pleasure to take on the role but also sad as I have known Coun Noyes in many spheres, not just on the town council.
“Thank you for everything you have done and the support you have given.
“We will miss your humour and intelligence.”
