NEW eco-friendly toilets and specialist changing facilities have been introduced to Droitwich’s award-winning toilets in St Andrews Square, writes Amber Reohorn.
The move has been made as part of the national ‘changing places’ scheme and the revamp includes electric hoists, height adjustable sinks and changing tables and Propelair toilets which use a lot less water.
A 6.75metre piece of artwork, depicting Droitwich’s iconic Chateau Impney and radio masts has also been added to the building. It has been created by local artist Ian Gibson and SE Cooper, a blacksmith from Pershore.
Coun Emma Stokes, Wychavon District Council’s portfolio holder for environment and street scene, said “These latest additions are all part of the council’s commitment to provide fully-accessible adult toilet facilities, as well as to improve energy efficiency across the district in line with Wychavon’s intelligently green plan.”
Similar changes have been made to conveniences in Evesham and the council plans to bring them to Pershore and Broadway next year.
