New Droitwich Business Park will bring a Sainsbury's Local, a Costa Coffee and 175 new jobs

EXCITING plans have been unveiled for a new business park in Droitwich, featuring a Sainsbury’s Local, a Costa Coffee drive-thru and ultra rapid electric vehicle charging points, and bringing 175 new jobs.

The proposals have been brought forward by the Hinton Group for land between Roman Way and Copcut Boulevard.

It is part of the Copcut Rise residential development site which includes allocations for retail space and employment uses.

Worcestershire Property Consultants, GJS Dillon and Harris Lamb, Hinton Group has carried out extensive advice and market analysis before putting forward the application. It would serve Copcut Rise residents who could access it on foot, saving carbon emissions from unnecessary journeys further afield.

Subject to planning permission, the proposals will be delivered in the short-term with major occupiers already secured for the retail spaces and a clear demand for the proposed commercial businesses within the Droitwich area.

The modern Sainsbury’s Local store would provide a range of food and everyday essentials for both cooking at home and on the go.

The Costa Coffee Drive-Through would offer hot drinks, both on the go, and seating in the cafe.

And the electric vehicle charging station would offer ultra-rapid charging points for eight electric vehicles, provided by Motor Fuel Group (MFG) – the largest independent forecourt operator in the UK.

There would be 58 parking spaces on-site and two more commercial units – of 18,000sq ft and 41,000sq ft – would provide space for growing local businesses to go into, freeing up smaller units elsewhere.

It would be accessed via Copcut Boulevard – using the existing junction – and pedestrian and cycle access would be created directly from the Copcut Rise development.

The jobs would be in both retail and commercial roles.

Hinton Group is holding a consultation to canvass residents’ views on the plans with a view to submitting a planning application to Wychavon District Council by the end of the year.
