MID WORCESTERSHIRE MP Nigel Huddleston visited The Hub which opened last week in Droitwich Spa town centre.
The community project – in a once empty shop – is run by MAPP, which manages St Andrews Square, and the landlord.
The Hub is a comfortable space for the local community to enjoy a bit of company, calm and wellbeing.
Droitwich Arts Network (DAN) was invited to help create a welcoming environment embracing, a variety of art forms which are now displayed on the walls and in a display cabinet.
Mr Huddleston praised the ‘incredible’ high quality art on display, most of which is for sale.
“I was really pleased to meet some of the local artists when I visited.
“I encourage local residents to make use of this new facility and I look forward to popping in again soon.”
The Hub is a flexible space to host small music and spoken word events and space can be hired at reasonable cost for a variety of uses such as meetings, art classes, music workshops, or social gatherings.
Rhys Jones, DAN’s lead volunteer, added: “The hub is a fascinating collaboration between big business and a local not for profit art group, and has regenerated a retail unit that has been empty for a number of years”.
The Hub is located near the entrance to St Andrews Square from St Andrews Street, opposite ‘Mr Harry’ hair salon.
