A STAGE show based on the moving novel Goodnight Mr Tom will be the Norbury Theatre’s first live production for more than 18 months when it opens on Thursday.

It runs from Thursday to Saturday and the same time next week – September 16 to 18 and between 23 and 25.

Billed as one of the most uplifting stories ever written, Michelle Magorian’s novel is brought to life in this production by David Wood.

The story is set during the Second World War and centres on young evacuee William Beech who finds himself in the idyllic English countryside, building up an unlikely and poignant friendship with elderly recluse Tom Oakley.

All is perfect until William is devastatingly summoned by his mum back to London.

Tickets are £12 and £11 (concessions) – available at norburytheatre.co.uk or by calling the box office on 01905 770154.

Shows start at 7.30pm with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm on September 25.
