MORE than 300 motorists were caught speeding on the region’s motorways throughout May.

The highest one was clocked at 125mph on the M5 between Junctions 1 and 2.

It was part of am operation by Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) to target those putting lives at risk on the major routes across the West Midlands.

Another was caught doing 120 miles per hour on the M6 and one did 117 on the Aston Expressway – more than twice the limit.

Police have been trying to get the message across that speeding increases the chance of a serious crash.

Collisions will put more strain on the NHS which is already over-burdened dealing with the fight against Coronavirus.
