A MOBILE police station is touring key locations across the county in a bid to make officers more available to communities.
Equipped with useful materials, crime prevention leaflets and property marking equipment, the station is travelling through areas in Wychavon for police officers to understand and act upon the concerns of the public.
Officers are also travelling on buses to make use of mobile technology and display A boards outside police buildings to indicate when people can drop by, to speak with them.
West Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner John Campion said: “The public expect the police to be visible and accessible in our communities, in order to fully understand and respond to local issues.
“These schemes mean this expectation is being met, as people engage with the officers in a way that is convenient for them.
“Through this and my investment in mobile technology, I am committed to ensuring the public get the access to the police, as and when they need it.”
South Worcestershire, Supt Kevin Purcell, is encouraging the public to pop along for a chat.
“This is an example of how my officers are making best use of the vehicles that they have been given and the modern technology.
“As well as being visible they can record crimes that are reported to them, create incident logs and when not chatting to the public carry on with paperwork on other policing matters.”
