A STAGE adaptation of Michael Morpurgo’s novel Mimi and the Mountain Dragon is heading to Artrix this half-term, writes Ryan Smith.

The show by Skewbald Theatre takes place at 2pm on Thursday, February 21, and features songs, puppetry, snow and magical dragons.

The production is aimed at being quirky, vibrant and playful theatre to inspire, engage and challenge the imaginations of young audiences.

The play is set in Dorta, Switzerland and follows Mimi who discovers a baby dragon sleeping in her woodshed and must return it to a castle on top of the mountain before the mother dragon comes looking for him.

The adaptation is directed by Hayley Byfield and Tory Sandars with the lyrics and music overseen by Caroline Wigmore and Jen Green.

The original novel was written by award-winning author Morpurgo, who wrote War Horse, the inspiration for Steven Speilberg’s 2011 Hollywood film.

Tickets for the play are £12 for adults and £10 for under 16s. Family tickets are available for £40.
