MICRO artist Graham Short who captured the nation’s attention with his tiny Jane Austen pictures on the new £5 notes will talk about his work as part of Droitwich ArtsFest.

His presentation will be at The Old Library Centre, Ombersley Street East, at 7.30pm on July 25.

There were only four notes featuring the images and they are so sought-after they are selling for more than £40,000 each.

The world renowned artist also engraved The Lord’s Prayer on the head of a gold pin, a portrait of HM The Queen on a speck of gold inside the eye of a needle and an image on the sharpest point of a razor blade.

‘The hands of genius’, as he is known, will talk also talk about the physical and mental extremes involved in producing the highest-quality engravings which are so small, many are not visible to the naked eye.

Graham has appeared in television news in 42 countries, was featured in a Discovery Channel documentary, and his story was told at the Annual Arts and Film Festival in Hollywood, California, in 2015.

ArtsFest 2017 organiser Rhys Jones said he was ‘totally amazed’ when Graham approached him about the presentation.

“The presentation will be full of amusing anecdotes of Graham’s involvement with the Royal Family, Uri Geller, Ronnie Barker, Kim Kardashian, astronaut Neil Armstrong, and other celebrities.”

There will be a suggested contribution of £4 but the audience is invited to ‘pay what they want’.

A variety of work, including live music, art, crafts, exhibitions, drama, and poetry, will be showcased at Droitwich ArtsFest, contributing the community and celebrating art in all its forms.

It runs from July 15 until August 5.
