A MAN is in hospital in a critical condition after a serious crash in Ombersley.

It happened on the A449 at the junction of the A4133 about 7.55pm on Thursday (October 23) when a blue Mercedes Benz collided with a lorry, leaving the driver trapped in the badly damaged car.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue crews attended from Droitwich, Worcester and Stourport and used heavy duty cutting equipment to free the man.

He had sustained a very serious head injury and is now in Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a critical condition.

The lorry driver, a Stourport-on-Severn man in his 60s, was uninjured in the crash.

The A449 was closed in both directions at the time.

Police have appealed for witnesses following the incident and anyone with any information should call 101.
