Last weekend was third busiest in the year for ambulance service

Droitwich Editorial 4th Nov, 2016   0

AMBULANCE staff have responded to more calls over Halloween weekend than any other this year so far.

The combination of the Halloween, bonfires and Diwali celebrations saw nearly 600 calls for West Midlands Ambulance Service in Worcestershire alone.

Mark Gough, Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer, said: “The combination of a payday weekend, the clock change and various celebrations meant we had put additional resources on to cope with the expected extra demand.

“Despite the number of 999 calls, staff worked incredibly hard to ensure patients continued to receive excellent care.”
