A DROITWICH Judo club welcomed fellow competitors from the Spa’s German twin town.

The members of Kodokan Judo hosted Carl Eschenauer, the senior coach of Bad Ems Judo club with a team of 20 as part of an event organised by the town’s German Twinning Association.

The guests stayed at Amphlett House and enjoyed a range of local visits and attractions during their time in the Spa.

The main focus of the trip was to meet like-minded Judo teams and experience a diverse training session comprising of all elements of the Judo tradition.

More than 50 people of all ages and abilities enjoyed a two-hour training event held at Droitwich Leisure Centre with members from Rubery and Bromsgrove Judo clubs also taking part.

The club then put on a disco and barbecue at the 3rd Droitwich Scout hut, which was supported by Viv and Adam Ware and Ollie Lamb who worked tirelessly to provide a magnificent spread for their guests.

Bosses and members of Kodokan Judo want to thank Droitwich Spa Leisure Centre for providing the excellent facilities for the session.

The not for profit club is ran completely by volunteer coaches and officials and, although it has only been open for eight months, it already has more than 30 members.

For more on the club, which holds sessions at the scout hut on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, visit www.kodokanjudodroitwich.org or call Claire Clarke on 07515 650698.
