Hunt is on for best pie in Droitwich

Droitwich Editorial 7th May, 2015 Updated: 17th Oct, 2016   0

THE HUNT is on to find the best pie in Droitwich as part of the town’s Summer Festival Fortnight.

Organisers of the food, arts and music festival want to hear from residents about what they think is the pick of the pastries – whether it is from a Spa butcher’s shop, local pub or restaurant. The pie must be made within a ten-mile radius of Droitwich.

The deadline for nominations is May 29 and the winning pie will be selected by an independent panel of judges, which includes top national food critic Charles Campion and Stephen Hallam, the managing director of Dickinson and Morris Melton Mowbray Pork Pies. He is also the chairman of the British Pie Awards so the pastries will be tried by the best judges in the land.

They will shortlist the best ones and then go and taste them, before selecting the overall winner.

The winner, who will receive a trophy, will be announced at the Droitwich Food and Drink Festival on Saturday, June 20.

Those nominating need to add a description of the pie and provide the name and address of where the pie is sold, along with their contact details.

Those nominating will also be entered into a free draw to become one of the judges of the pie competition.

For more and to nominate a pie, visit droitwichspafestival.co.uk or find the event on Twitter (@Droitwichfest) or Facebook – by searching for ‘Droitwich Spa Festivals’.
