PEOPLE are being urged to support each other during the coronavirus crisis by Worcestershire County Council, which has launched a ‘Here 2 Help’ campaign to find out who can offer assistance to those in need.

And the authority has created a simple form so it can find out about those who are prepared for people to volunteer goods, services or assistance for those who need it.

It will allow the council to liaise with all those volunteering and offering to help.

Coun Lucy Hodgson, Cabinet Member for Communities, said: ”We’ve had lots of people kindly offer to help and to provide support and the people of Worcestershire can be really proud of how the county has come together so far.

With social distancing and social isolation now coming into force, it’s important we all help each other through this and do what we can for those who are in self isolation.”

Five steps to dealing with the coronavirus outbreak are also being promoted by Worcestershire County Council.

1. People should take care of themselves and stay healthy – washing hands regularly and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, without forgetting to self-isolate and stay away from public places whenever possible.

2. Call, chat, check – People should swap numbers with vulnerable neighbours and check on them regularly.

3. Be kind and think of others – Don’t bulk buy essential items, offer help to those who need it. Get online to stay in touch. Meet virtually using video calling or telephone conversations. Share accurate advice and information.

4. Get online to stay in touch – Residents are being encouraged to meet virtually using video calling or telephone conversations.

5. Share accurate advice and information – People should only share information from verified sources, not rumours or hearsay.

Anyone with goods or services they wish to donate should visit www.worcestershire.gov.uk/here2help and fill out the form by clicking on the ‘Get In Touch’ button at the bottom of the page.
