Great news for swimmers as Droitwich Lido's season is extended

Droitwich Editorial 31st Aug, 2021   0

BOSSES at Droitwich Lido have announced the outdoor pool’s season is being extended.

Swimmers will now be able to put the lengths in until September 26.

Operators Wychavon Leisure have responded to customers’ pleas who felt closing the Lido at the start of September was too early.

And, with the pool having opened on May 1 – four weeks earlier than it is usually opened – this looks set to be the longest Droitwich Spa Lido season in years.

The team worked hard behind the scenes to ensure the Lido was Covid-secure prior to opening and Wychavon District Council guaranteed financial support to back it because of the reduced capacity it was running at.

In a Tweet, Rivers Fitness wrote: “This is something a lot of you have asked for and if it goes well, there’s possibilities for more to come from it.”

Droitwich Spa Lido uses the town’s famous brine, rather than chlorine, and is frequently named as one of the best outdoor pools in the country in national polls.

Entry costs £7 per adult and £5 per child for a two-hour swim session. Daytime family and early bird sessions are available.
