A GRANDMOTHER who wrote a story in memory of her baby grandson Jasper Eric Hawkesford who passed away five years ago will be signing copies of her book at the Hanbury Countryside Show tomorrow.

Monica Cox, who is from Alcester, penned Jasper’s Rainbow Story and will be donating £1 from every copy to three charities.

Among them are bereavement charity the Edward’s Trust, still-birth organisation Sands and SWFT for Warwick Hospital maternity and special care baby units.

In the last four years Monica’s daughter Holly and son-in-law Jon have raised more than £24,000 for the causes through a number of activities.

She said: “We always do something each year to remember Jasper and for this year I came up with the idea for the book.

“As he died in July 2014 the most amazing rainbow came over the hospital and gave us a memory to treasure and never forget.

“I was put in touch with the illustrator Chantal Bourgonje through a friend and she has created some beautiful images for it.”

In the story Jasper is an angel who creates rainbows and leaves pots of gold at the end of them on special days for children to make their wishes.

She is hoping to sell 500 copies in total and 160 have already been snapped up.

The book is priced at £6.99 and suitable for children aged between birth and eight.

Email [email protected] to order a copy of the book and go to facebook.com/jaspersrainbow for more information.
