Grab a slice of friendship at Salvation Army community cafe

A COMMUNITY cafe aimed at bringing people together has opened at The Salvation Army Community Church.

Residents have been invited to enjoy a cup of tea, a piece of cake and a chat at the new drop-in cafe, on Ombersley Way, which is open on Wednesdays from 10.30am until 12.30pm and on Fridays between 2pm and 4pm.

Salvation Army captains Jenny and Steve Forman together with the church decided to extend the building to make more space for group activities, the new cafe and the foodbank.

The foodbank is now open at the same time as the cafe.

Jenny said: “It is great because it is there for the community.

“We are not a commercial cafe it is just a place for people to have a cup of tea and a chat and for those people who do not get out much.

“One of the nice comments we have had from a lady we helped was ‘where there was no hope, hope was given’.”
