Get in the Christmas spirit and raise funds for Sight Concern at Droitwich's 5k Jingle Run

IT WILL be ‘jingle all the way’ on November 24 when a 5k festive fun run takes place in Droitwich’s Lido Park to raise funds for Sight Concern Worcestershire.

For the Christmas-themed Jingle Run all participants will wear a bell attached to their running shoes, a pair of antlers and have a red nose painted on to complete that ‘reindeer look’.

A variety of town organisations are supporting the event including Droitwich Athletics Club, Julie Liggins Fitness, Steve Sherry Bootcamp Droitwich, the town’s Lions Club, Thursfield Solicitors, Fortis Living and Ormerod Rutter.

Sight Concern supports blind and partially sighted people throughout the county, helping them lead independent lives.

Jenny Gage, the charity’s chief officer said: “Participants can walk, prance, jog or run their way through the course stopping at various Christmas themed stations along the way.”

There will also be a one-mile Little Reindeer Dash for children aged between four and 12 and a Reindeer Toddle for under fours around the bandstand.

“The idea of using a Rudolf theme and having a bell attached to running shoes was inspired by one of our clients who was blind and brought up two small children on her own.

“In order to be able to hear them she attached little bells to their shoes.”

Julie Liggins from Julie Liggins Fitness added she was so pleased to be supporting the charity for the fourth year running.

“This event will be the best one yet, held in the heart of Droitwich, for an amazing cause.

“It’ll bring the whole community together and get us all in the Christmas spirit.”

Call 01905 723245, visit www.sightconcern.co.uk/jinglerun or email [email protected] for more information and booking places, which is essential.

Entry fees are £15 per adult, £7.50 for children (aged four to 18) and £35 for a family four.

The Little Reindeer Dash is £5 and the Reindeer Toddle is free.

Participants are being urged to raise as much money as possible through sponsorship and there will be a special edition reindeer sweatshirt for everyone raising £100 or more.

Entry fees include bells, antlers, entertainment, snow machine and Christmas themed stations along the way.

Registration is at 9.30am with the 5K starting at 11am, the Little Reindeer Dash at 11.10am and Reindeer Toddle at 11.15am.
